
Paul is entering his 28th season as a Head Varsity Baseball Coach and his 34th year coaching at the high school level. Paul is entering his 28th season as a Head Varsity Baseball Coach and his 34th year coaching at the high school level. Before arriving at Barrington, he led the Palatine High School program for 22 seasons and coached five seasons at Fremd High School. A product of the Mid-Suburban League, Paul graduated from Hoffman Estates High School in 1985, earning postseason honors and helping lead his team to a state quarterfinal appearance.
His collegiate playing career included stops at Miami Dade, Harper College, and the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he was part of two record-setting teams. Paul earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in 1990 and began teaching in Township High School District 211 in 1991, following two seasons coaching at the junior college level.
Inducted into the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2020, Paul later worked briefly with the Clinton LumberKings before becoming the hitting coach for the Joliet Slammers. A former associate scout for the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks, Paul has helped over 100 players advance to the collegiate level and four to professional baseball. He is also a nationally recognized clinician and holds master’s degrees in Educational Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, and Exercise Science. Paul resides in Algonquin, Illinois with his wife Debbie and their three children.
Coach Pohlman is a 2000 BHS graduate, earning four varsity letters for baseball. Only four other alumni have earned that same distinction. He attended Northwestern University where he played both football and baseball.

Coach Mulvaney is a 2005 graduate of Grayslake Central High School, where he was a three-sport varsity athlete. He played baseball at Aurora University, where he was named team captain as a senior, helping lead his team to a Northern Athletics Conference Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth.
He is a Physical Education Teacher at Rosyln Road Elementary School.

Coach Soulakian is a 1991 graduate of Elgin High school and a 1995 graduate of North Central College, where he was named an All-Conference outfielder.
Coach Soulakian came to Barrington High after working for 16 years at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He helped create and currently teaches the Business Incubator program.
